Local Loop Unbundling in the UK |
| |
| Abstract |
Over the past several years, the use of local loop unbundling (LLU) has become the center piece of any UK company that desires to provide broadband services to consumers. As a result, the use of LLU as a core data access product in the UK is seeing unprecedented growth and companies are discovering the need to optimize their use of LLU to effectively compete in the marketplace.
In order to compete effectively in this environment, companies must have operation support systems that are streamlined for LLU. Achieving this goal starts with an understanding of the core product and expands into how operations can be setup to best leverage it.
This Paper starts at the basics. It documents the history of how LLU came about in the UK and outlines some of the core advantages and disadvantages inherent to business models based upon LLU.
